When I realized I was losing my hair, I knew it was time to beat chemo to the punch. First, I cut it short; my hair didn’t completely fall out then. The irinotecan, however, made my hair fall out in large clumps and was breaking my heart. So…I shaved my head. Here are photos of my transformation and some others who shaved their heads in solidarity!
Section one: My before and after photos and my friend Mary, who shaved her head with me…
Yes I did!!!!
Good to read that you beat the chemo to the punch! A lesson for me to take forward with me when I start chemo next week.
Cancer can do a lot of things, but I am slowly learning it is not as powerful as everyone thinks. It wanted my hair, but I took that away before it could. Good luck with your chemo!
Mary is some friend to do that for you!! My son and husband both shaved their heads for Lauren. Lauren wears little knit hats if it is really cold outside. But she is proud of her bald head and doesn’t want to cover it up. You look adorable!
I agree, Mary is such a sweet friend to do that with and for you Janine!!! You both look amazing. Let’s go shopping for scarves and hats,,,,yes? 🙂 I love you so much
Dad says you look adorable, and he wears a hat to keep his bald head warm.
He also said he will take you anywhere you buy your hats or scarves or whatever.
Can I rub your head too?? Do you want me to shave mine (please say no, I look awful already).
We love you so much, and we love your new look too!!!

I am so proud of you, and your attitude! You could be wallowing in self pity, but you’re standing up to the enemy and fighting back. All with a great sense of humor….(((((((((((((Janine))))))))))))))))))
Janine I am so proud of how strong you are. I know you will continue to beat the odds. You’re beautiful no matter what for you truly are a kind and special woman who was put on this planet to make a difference. I know now why you and Jon were friends. Jon is protecting you and will continue to protect you until you kick this cancers ass goodbye. I love you.
You need to add Malika to this one !
Hi there – I have been praying for you for quite some time – really ever since the day Larry Kennedy told me about you.
Sending you prayers, peace & love,
Christy Mattey
*LOVE your friend that joined you in the hair shaving party! I have breast cancer and beat my chemo to the punch too!
You are just as beautiful without hair, maybe even more!
