About

My name is Janine and I am a thirty-year-old relocated New Yorker currently in Tucson, AZ.  I have two bachelors’ degrees: one in elementary education and one in nursing.  For the past two years, I have been employed as a registered nurse on a Neurology unit at one of the local hospitals.  I absolutely love my job and find the medical field pretty fascinating.

I met my husband Milo at the local community college when I was completing my nursing prerequisites.  He’s a IT technician there.  Friends turned romantic, we were married on 10/10/10.  Since, we have been attempting to start a family without success.

In May 2011, I started feeling sick all the time.  After several doctors visits and tests, I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the liver on 8/8/11.  This blog is my attempt to convey what it is like to be 30-years-old, diagnosed with a cancer someone twice your age should have and hopefully survive.

Hi Janine — I found your blog via the cholangiocarcinoma website. My Mom was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma last week. She hasn’t started treatment yet. We both signed up for the forum, but are awaiting approval — 24 to 48 hours! — and we are trying to discover whether there is a Tucson support group. Can anyone out there help hook us up with a local group?

Support is always welcome.
